In reply to Geeta. Hi Geeta, Unfortunately, we have not come across any of our Indian varieties that have the same sticky texture (not to say that it is not out there). If you ever visit a Thai restaurant in India, maybe you can ask them what they use and where they find it.

I love this website and Hetal and Anuja you do such a fine job!! Congrats and All The Best !! My problem is that I live in India and Thai sticky rice is not easily available here. Is there any local Indian rice that I can use as a substitute?? Or can local varieties be tweaked in such a way that I can get a similar taste and texture???

Hey ladies, I have been a fan of this dessert ever since I first had it in Bangkok about 3 years ago. I tried it at other restaurants here in Singapore but none came even close to that first taste i had in mind. Yours looks fabulous and I am definitely going to give it a try, hopefully it will enter into my “always at-hand” recipe book that I absolutely cannot part with. Keep up the good work 🙂
