The way I cut a pineapple is using a metal Pineapple corer found on Amazon.com. Cutting a pineapple using a kitchen knife is great but does create a little extra mess and takes a little more time. However using the pineapple corer is super fast and neat. Only down side is that you are left with as much flesh as the diameter of the corer. i.e there will be some wastage. Hence I try to use slightly smaller pineapples for this purpose.
Cut off the top of the pineapple. Place the corer on the center of the pineapple and rotate to cut the pineapple spirally. After it penetrates the bottom, pull out the entire thing out. The pineapple flesh comes out in a cylindrical spiral which can then be cut up and served without any mess.
