Actually i wanna ask if I use simple milk instead of cocunrut milk will it be appropiate???
Hi Rohan,
Yes, you can use regular milk instead of coconut milk. Coconut milk just gives it a tropical flavor.
what part of India is this from?
Hi Raven,
It is not from any particular part in India…just a combination of Indian flavors.
Hi Hetal & Anuja,
It looks yummy ! could you please share the brand of coconut milk used for this smoothie?
Thanks
Hi L,
We buy what is available at our local Asian store, however a friend of ours who uses coconut milk quite often recommends Renuka brand…it is available at Indian grocery stores.
Hello,I wanted to ask wat do I need to make cilantro chutney like a food processor or wat…coz I hav bella cucuina it useless coz it leaks down and I can smell the motor burning…I also want to know watjuicer is best coz u guys hav best of everything….coz I got juicer dat also didn ‘ work….so pls let me know which gadgets r good for both of my work….
Hi Alpa,
For making chutneys, you need a good blender (food processors will not grind smoothly). Since there are so many brands and price ranges available, we suggest you find one with the highest watts that is affordable for you. Regarding juicers, we have one we got from Walmart (around $55) that works great. Sorry, it is packed away right now so don’t know the brand but it is always there at Walmart.
Thanks hetal,u guys r gr8…I never thought I would get my answer back so fast….u both do good job…and wat u both hav is fanastic from serving plates, spatula, etc…I always like to watch all the stuff wat u used more then wat u make….it’s gr8…keep it up…v Gujarati feel so proud when our ladies can do such things possible…
Thanks so much Alpa! π
Hi Hetal and Anuja,
Thank you for all the wonderful recipes, Can you please tell me the name of mangoes and where can i get them.
I too stay in Dallas.
Every time i purchase mangoes, i get the ones which are stringy.
Thanks.
Hi Sheshu,
We buy our mangoes from our local Indian grocery store. They don’t have too many varieties unfortunately. They come in a big cardboard box but you can buy them separately as well.
Hi hetal nd anuja..
Yummy recipe… Thanx 4 sharing…
Can u gals pls bring up some sandwich recipe…quick n easy 2 go..
Waiting 4 ur respond..
Hi Rinu,
We’ll put sandwiches on our list to do. Thanks.
Hi Hetal & Anuja,
I love your website and look it every day for new receipes. Please don’t get discouraged with all the negative comments. One question, can we make this smoothie with ready made mango pulp cans we get from indian grocery store and what measurements should be used?
Hi Meghna,
You can definitely use canned mango pulp but the flavor is distinctly different from fresh mangoes. You can keep with the same proportions (1 part each) but be careful on the sugar as the canned mango pulp tends to be pre-sweetened.
Hello Anuja& Hetal.
couple of years back i am an amateur cook.
I learned so many new recipes through your website.
I love your way of cooking with exact measurements and timing.
I am a daily visitor to u r site and before making any recipe i like to go throw all the comments , because some of my doubts will be clarified and new ideas shared by our friends are help full to me.
please don’t encourage “-ve ” comments from “Anonymous”
simply delete them.
i know this ” Anonymous ” not well behaving with “Anuja”
these kind of personal attacks must be deleted.
i know some silly complaints about “orange spatula”
,”cooking coconut oil” ,now this ” glass ”
but they pointed one good thing that is about curtain behind your stove (take care of it ), we love you Ladies.
sorry for the lengthy post ,
regards
YG
“
Hi YG,
Thanks for your support and concern about the curtain. We put the curtain there to prevent some back lighting that was interfering with our filming. We do not cook on the back stoves while that curtain is there. Also, it is there only for the show (while filming) and does not stay there under normal circumstances.
I think Hetal and Anuja make such a great team- funny, sweet and informative at the same time. The recipes are demonstrated in such a way that it just sticks in your head after watching the video :-))
You are doing a great job, keep it up and remember great people will also also have equally great critics!! Not to worry, you should just feel prouder making an impact π
Hi Hetal and Anuja

SOUNDS ABSOLUTELY YUMMY WILL CERTAINLY TRY IT.KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK .STILL WAITING FOR THE RECIPE FOR DRIED CHIKOO BARFI.LOVE YOUR WEBSITE AND YOUR HAPPY SMILING FACES.
Thanks Kamla! We can’t seem to find dried chikoo here (or any chikoo for that matter π ).
Hey Anuja N Hetal,
I did make this rice couple of times. The first time I made for 4-6 servings i.e followed the recipe to the Γ’β¬ΕTΓ’β¬Β. The next time I made I made for for 12-14 servings and off course did the measurements n proportions accordingly and let the cook the rice for 15 mins as I had seen in one of your comments, that cooking time remains same no matter what the quantity of rice is , hence I did the same. The rice cooked like 90 percent there were some portions which remained raw. what wrong did I do? please advice.
thanks
Good Recipe Hetal and Anuja. Sorry about the petty name-calling going on this forum lately. I would suggest, just have a system in place where you don’t publish comments that are down-right petty and basically just character assassinations. You guys work hard to keep this website up and running and you shouldn’t have to deal with this rubbish. My 2 cents.
Thanks Angel for your 2 cents :). We’ll think of a way to implement your idea.
I totally agree with Angel….I wish Hetal and Anuja’s showmethecurry partnership to continue to grow and flourish for years to come,
Me 3…just delete the negative comments
Same here. -ve comments on people should be deleted. It is just irritating and takes out all the fun of reading comments on this website!
Agree with the above views…Please introduce some moderation for all the comments..Kudos to your commitment
hi Hetal, how are you? i love the recipes you showed. again Anuja is little bit looking funnier on video. Be natural Anuja. dont fake it! by the way the Glass look so weird.
Hey Anonymous! At least they are doing what they love and enjoy and sharing it with others. You don’t need to be so judgmental and hide behind the cloak of “anonynousness”!!
I seriously wished there was a “dislike”button for the uncalled comments.”Anonymous” pls respect the hardwork and the two individuals for their great work.
I have a great idea for you! Take 2 band-aids – stick 1 over me and 1 over the glass and then continue to enjoy the recipe π
Good one, Anuja. Instead, so called Anonymous should put one big band-aid over his/her eyes:):):) while watching the video.
This is totally uncalled for! Why are so many people making personal attacks? You are getting watch videos for free and learn. If you want to comemnt on the recipe, its fine but why be so mean?
Anuja and Hetal, I am sure others are also getting tired of seeing such -ve comments, which are of no use to anyone. Free speech is different from crappy behavior!
Do us all a favour and please delete them. I am actually getting tired of reading such comments.
Hey Anon,
Get lost. No one has asked ur suggestion and please…if u are not capable of appreciating others..atleast don’t depreciate them! π
anuja and hetal di..
OMG mouth watering!
I think you are making some nice drinks indeed, but I am not sure about the coconut milk. just out of interest do you think it is very high in calorie.Maybe milk for the children would be a better option, what do you & other readers think.
I couldn’t help laughing when a certain person said the glass looked difficult to hold or to that effect, you can always use what you like & buy !!!!!
Hi Mohua,
Coconut milk does have calories so you may want to modify this recipe if you are watching your weight. However, it is simply heavenly combined with the flavor of mango. π
MohuaGhosh,
Actually coconut milk is very healthy and consists of healthy fat. Just google ‘benefits of coconut milk’ and you will find countless benefits of coconut milk. i was afraid of using coconut milk and now looking for recipes which uses coconut milk.
Thank you Anuja and Hetal for the wonderful recipe. How about adding a pinch of cardamom powder? I will enhace the flavour.
Hi ladies,
Nice recipe !!!!!! However I have a request to make . Can you feature some recipes using the Bengali Panch Phoran spice mix? I just stumbled across one recipe using it for dry aloo called panch phoran aloo. Can you feature some authentic ones with gravy . I would love it if you could .
Thanks for the amazing and easy recipes ……….
Hi Padmasudha,
We have several recipe that use panch phoran masala. Just at the top of my head…Eggplant in Exotic Spices, Butternut Squash with Black Chickpeas and Tangy Paneer.
Hi Hetal,
Thanks for the tip. I tried out the recipe of Eggplant with exotic spices yest. I live in India and the only variety of eggplant easily available is the large round ones or the small round ones. I used the large ones for this recipe and it came out good……Thanks again

Dear sisters,
Some family members have stomach upset after taking coconut milk, can I use fresh milk instead of coconut milk? Thanks.
Hi Gwendoling,
If you cannot have coconut milk, then you can definitely substitute milk.
glass looks weird to me…i think it’ll be hard to hold..
lol… I kind of felt the same way.
Anyway, the dessert looks great! Now I am tempted to buy mangoes!
Me too I am not seeing anything special with this glass. Looks kinda weird to me too.
Hi
Pl tell me the glass is available to buy on your site π very attractive glass
Hi Pinky,
Sorry, the glass is not available on our site. We purchased it years ago.
Hey Pinky and all others who want to buy the martini glass,
You can find these glasses in bed bath and beyond and even in TJMaxx.
Will the recipe work without the Saffron? Is there something you can use in place of that?
This tropical smoothie sounds so good – can’t wait to try it!
Yes. It will work without saffron too. Saffron is added for flavor, color and may be for its health benefits too. I don’t think you will miss it a whole lot. There are many dishes we prepare, for which saffron is optional.
Yes, the saffron can be left out. You can substitute cardamom powder if you like.
Hi Hetal & Anuja,
Could you please tell me where did u get the glass..Looks so pretty π
Please share the glass link
Cheers!
Roopa.
Hi Roopa,
It is actually a martini glass we picked up from some kitchen store many years ago…not sure if they make them anymore or where they may be available. Sorry.
