For all those wonderful people who’d like to make that tempting “Warm Kahlua Dessert” but have some restrictions….make your own Kahlua with or without alcohol and let that not come in the way of enjoying this gorgeous dish!
Water – 1.5 cups
Sugar – 1.5 cups
Instant Coffee – 1/4 cup
Vanilla essence – 1.5 tsp
Vodka – 1 cup (optional)
Method:
1. Mix Sugar, Water, Coffee to a boil.
2. Reduce to simmer for about 5-7 minutes.
3. Allow it to cool down to room temperature.
4. Add in Vanilla Essence and Vodka.
Tips:
1. Vanilla beans give a fantastic flavor…use those if you have available. Boil with Sugar and water in the begining.
2. Store the Kahlua in a bottle.
3. The Sugar/Water/Coffee mixture should be of sticky consistency.
Why did my homemade Kaluha turn green a bit and spoil -do you have to add alcohol does spoil -in 2 to 3 weeks?
You need to be a part of a contest for one of the highest quality
websites on the internet. I will recommend this website!
So, If I do not add the vodka will I need to add more water?
Just made this with vodka-that itself tastes and smells so good. Will try teh dessert today evening
Hi
can I make this with instant coffee? if yes, it should be a little less than 1/4 cup….right?
Hi Lavi,
Yes, you need instant coffee for this recipe 🙂
Your website is so interesting and the food sounds wonderful. I’m going to try the Aloo Matar soon. I don’t think I’m going to make the Masala in bulk, though. Although there were quite a few things that I thought I could add it to. Maybe I’ll change my mind. I do have a question re: the homemade kahlua. Is the 1/4 cup instant coffee dry crystals or a 1/4 cup of made instant coffee?
It is dry crystals.
Can you please tell me how long will this last? How do we need to store it?
Thanks!
-Ria
Hi Ria,
We suggest you store it in a clean, dry bottle and it should last for atleast a few months.
Hope that helps
post the recipe for cold coffee…..
thank you so much for this non-alcoholic kahlua recipe! liquor isn’t allowed in my home so thank you sooo much 🙂
