  1. I have made this laods of times and they turn out brilliantly every time. These are my family’s favorite sweet potato fries. I place the fries on the cooling rack which goes on the baking sheet. That way, i don’t need to flip them in between. Thanks a lot for this recipe!

  2. Hello Hetal, Anuja
A question: i don’t have an OTG or any oven for that matter just a microwave! So is there a way i can work around the oven?
If yes, then please tell! I really don’t wanna fry them, would defeat the entire purpose of getting nutritious sweet potatoes.
P.S. I really do love your recipes. Very good.

    1. Hi Anuj,

Unfortunately, this recipe cannot be made in a microwave (you will get the equivalent of boiled pototoes) :(. Sorry. You may be able to pan fry them (using little oil). You may have to cover the pan initially until they cook through and then open the lid to crisp them up.

      1. thanks Hetal!
i went ahead and cooked them in a microwave!
i didn’t use ur method! i baked them whole unpeeled as we do to potatoes!
it wasn’t crisp but they cooked well!
i was happy with them as they turned out the same way as they are at Indian stalls.
        (You might have tried them!)

        Thanks anyways! 🙂 🙂
        love you guys

  6. Can we use Pumpkin in place of Sweet Potatoes? I have a big pumpkin at home and am trying to figure out healthy ways of using it?

  7. You guys rock!!! You have helped me vow my friends with all the good stuff you show on your website…I am potluck favorite now and I surprise my friends with your ideas…Can you share the recipe for Bhindi Raitha…My grandma used to make it a lot. The bhindi used to be very crisp. I am not able to bring that crispiness with the frozen or dried okra I get in the US. Thanks

  8. Hi Ladies!

I’ve been uninspired by sweet potatoes lately…but this has done just the trick! I am making them tonight for my husband. Thank you for this website! As a girl who grew up in PA all her life, I am now married to an Indian man and living in London. I didn’t know how to cook curries or anything with the spices he likes. Thanks to you ladies, I can now make a mean curry! The egg curry is FANTASTIC! Thanks again!

  9. I’ve tried this and quite disaapointed..It was too soft and wasnt crispy/ crunchy..I didnt cut very thin..dont know what happened..Please help..All ur dishes I tried was super hit except this one :(..wanna try again..

    Please reply…

    1. Hi Sree,

Sweet potato fries do not get as crispy as regular potato fries…and the thinner you cut them, the crispier they get.

  10. i tried the recipe, but at 420 Fahrenheit the fries started burning after 2 minutes in my oven.

and i think that ive cut them too small.

    1. Hi Alexander,

Sometimes it’s the thickness and the size of the cut and sometimes it’s how close the pan is to the heat that affects the cooking. Try again and it’ll come out well.

  11. hi
this is really gud…here is my version of doing it:

cut sweet potato…I do it in about one inch pieces. add ginger-garlic paste, salt, olive oil, soy-sauce. bake for 15-20 minutes!

try this. u’ll surely like it.

  12. Hi ladies,
You both are amazing!! I was never really passionate about cooking. But recently, after watching your videos, I have developed a lot of interest in cooking! All my dishes turn out to be a hit in my house! All thanks to you both!!

Re: this baked sweet potato recipe, I mistakenly put it in a slightly lower rack for 15 minutes, but they turned out too soft. Should I have baked it for some more time? Would it have been fine had I put it in the middle rack? Please reply, so I can do it correctly next time.

Again, thanks for doing an amazing job!

    1. Hi Shuba,

Yes, closer to the top of the oven is the hottest…that helps in making the outer layer of the sweet potato crisp. Last time I made them and I was cooking them with other things in the oven so I put them lower but had them going for a while longer.Having said that – top shelf in the oven is the best place.
Thanks for all the compliments 🙂

  13. Hey Hetal and Anuja,
Is it okay if we mix in the chilli powder in the beginning and they bake them? Thanks in advance!

    Regards,
    Yazhini.

  14. hi hetal & anuja.

Have enjoyed all your receipes….this one looks good too…tasty n healthy….just one question…can we make it in big batch and store it….what’s the shelf life if these crisps n what’s the best way to store it

    thanks

    Tripti

    1. Hi Tripti,

You can make a BIG batch (but make sure you invite us 😉 )!

Regarding storing it, you can but it will loose the crispness (but will still taste good). Since it’s so easy and quick, we suggest you make it and enjoy it right away!

    1. Hi Anu,

You should be able to make it in the microwave but, honestly, we have never tried it. I don’t think you will get the crispness or the color if done in the microwave.

  15. Hi hetal and Anuja!
Both of you are Awesome! I have been watching your videos for quite some time now and I absolutely love what you both do!! Thanks soo much for making cooking so happening for us!

just wanted to write in my version of Baked fries which I have been following and enjoying on both potatoes and sweet potatoes!

1.Slice the potatoes any way we want it (fries/wedges)and dry them (if they were in water) on cotton cloth.
    2. In a bowl add EVOO+amchur powder+salt+red chilly powder+jeera powder+black pepper powder ( all according to taste)
    3. Toss the potato slices in the above mixture and make sure everyone one of them is well coated.
    4. Line them up on a baking tray just like the way you show it in the video and finally
    5. Bake them in the oven.

The fries come out crisp, and tasty just wait for them to cool down and enjoy!!

I hope you like my version of it!

    Keep up the good work!
    Geetha

  16. Hetal, Anuja,

Looking at it I can say they are really yummy… will try them soon.

    Thanks for sharing the recipe.

  17. Hi Hetal and Anuja

Very simple and healthy recipe. Will try this …
I wanted to ask this question… You mentioned about the oven getting ready (preheated). Is there any particular time you need to preheat an oven for any dish .. I generally keep it for 10 minutes .. thats it .. Just a doubt ..
Can we do this for the potatoes as well … because I tried frying potatoes and it was not crispy …

        1. Hi! most ovens usually have a thermostat that controls the temp within the oven. So when you want to preheat at 350 deg F, set the oven and leave it on. Once the oven reaches the temp, it automatically gets switched off, so you can just look at the light whether it has reached the required temp. Hope this info is useful. thanks!

  18. hi hetal and anuja
