You know you’ve seen them at the store during holidays like Valentines’ Day or Mother’s Day…beautiful bright red strawberries covered in rich chocolate. Then, you look at the price. Wow! That’s really expensive! Try this easy Homemade Chocolate Covered Strawberries recipe and you won’t believe how inexpensive they are to make. In case you’re wondering, Dad (or hubby) will surely love this special treat for Father’s Day!
Ingredients:
Good quality Strawberries – 1 lb, washed and dried completely
Chocolate Chips – 1 cup, any kind (semi-sweet, milk, dark, white, etc
Oil – 1 Tbsp or as needed
White Chocolate Chips – handful
Oil – 1 tsp, or as needed
Method:
1. Line a large baking tray or plate with parchment or wax paper (foil will work but parchment/wax is the best choice)
2. In a double boiler (pot of simmering water with another bowl or pot over the simmering water), add 1 cup chocolate chips and 1 Tbsp Oil. (Note: Oil improves the texture and more expensive chocolates do not need as much oil)
3. Allow the chocolate chips to sit for about 1 minute and then whisk until a smooth chocolate sauce forms. Remove pot from the stove.
4. Hold each strawberry by its green stem and dip it into the chocolate sauce to cover all sides but leaving a little red visible at the top.
5. Shake off excess chocolate and place strawberry on the parchment paper lined tray. Continue with all of the strawberries making sure they don’t touch each other on the tray.
6. Place White Chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl and heat in 15 second increments until melted. One tsp of oil may be added to get drizzling consistency.
7. Dip a fork into the white chocolate sauce and drizzle it over the strawberries, creating a back and forth design.
8. Keep the strawberries in the refrigerator for about 1 hour to set and harden the chocolate.
9. Arrange strawberries on a platter and serve.
10. Store in the refrigerator. Must be consumed within 1-2 days.
nice recipe, I like it…
Hi Hetal and Anuja,
Very nice recipe. Looks yummy too. Will try it soon. Can you post an easy cheesecake recipe too please?
I love your strawberry recipe I wish Abuja can come back and that girl was really funny she was like goofball lol and lol and lol
I made a tray of these as an early Father’s Day celebration after a blow-out lunch this afternoon….they were just perfect. I created a tray on 5 mins flat and although they didn’t look as professional as yours Hetal, they were lovely light treat. I used good quality large strawberries and inexpensive dark and white chocolate, just a few each and everyone was happy. Oh yes and I didn’t add any oil and it was fine, just left them in the fridge to set and we enjoyed them with masala chai when we got home.
Hetal, I tried making this, but the chocolate dip didn’t appear smooth after it was refrigerated. I used the same brand of semi sweet chocolate chips. I used saffola oil, is that why they didn’t appear smooth.
where is Anuja?
Anuja moved to India and will be doing recipe videos from India.
Hi Pinal,
Still settling down and need all the luck in the world 🙂
Hope it’s going well Anjua? Looking forward to seeing some masala from Hindustan in due course…
is Anuja quiting or she is in India??
I checked this video out for the recipe and was a little surprised not to see Anuja in it. From the comments that followed the video, I picked up that Anuja has moved. Believe it or not, it brought a lump to my throat and made me misty-eyed to realize the two of you are now divided by a move. I enjoyed watching your complementary personalities working together. Anuja, you will be sorely missed.
I take it, Sejal is now being trained for Anuja’s spot?:)
She reminds me of my daughter, 11 years old, who loves to amuse me with her theatrics. Good job, Sejal! We are looking forward to seeing you as your mom’s assistant cum entertainer.
Your daughter is just darling!!! I laughed so hard! Great recipe – thanks for sharing!
HELLO HETAL, THIS IS A GOOD SOLO VIDEO. MAY GOD BLESS YOU BOTH (HETAL + ANUJA) FOR OTHER SOLO VIDEO IN THE FUTURE. THANKS FOR THIS GREAT RECIPE.
Good job Hetal! Great, easy show stopper recipe.
I liked your fast paced, quick video. I know , I know you can never please everyone. But hey, that’s life!
I enjoyed your daughter’s imitation act too.
Take care.
Oh my i can’t believe Anuja is not around!!!!i understand Hetals loneliness !!!!
thank you Hetal, you did very good ( missed Anuja ofcourse) i’m gonna make these on sunday, yummy!
Sorry, made a mistake on the name Hetal…please forgive
Hi Hetal,
You did this recipe beautifully. One tip on the strawberries. If you wash them and then refrigerate them for several hours, when you dip them, the chocolate will almost instantly (a minute or so) become hard. That can save some time when making them with little or no time to chill them. And…you can eat them faster 🙂
Thanks Juday! That’s a great tip…thanks for sharing it.

Hey Hetal
When I tried to make it, chocolate won’t stick to some of the strawberries.
I did wash them and let it dry too, Do you have any idea why?
Hmmm…I’ve never had an issue with the chocolate not sticking. Is it only on some strawberries or on parts of all of the strawberries. Maybe you can try the tip that Judy below gives.
Hi Hetal,
Definitely a good video and can make this desert always. Sadly missed Anuja. But as time goes by we will get use to.
Keep posting more videos of wonderful recipes.
This video was done during Valentine’s Day so it would have been a better fit during that time. None the less, great video. Oil also add a great shine to the chocolate.
Great smooth video just a bit fast.
Hi Pinal,
This is a recent video and was not done during Valentines Day – though I did make these yummy little sweets for my sweeties and posted a pic on Facebook. Just wanted to share this recipe with all of you. By the way, Father’s Day is right around the corner, but with this easy dessert, you don’t need to wait for a holiday. 😉
I have always liked you Hetal especially Because of your succinct and matter of fact manner…but today I did miss Anuja! I think she slowed down the pace of the video considerably which is what was sorely missed today. This video reminds me how you two complemented each other. Please take this as a helpful hint (nothing personal) ) you need to slow down your speech a tiny bit. Which you did do intermittently throughout the video… Good Luck with upcoming videos. Timely recipe BTW because T’is the berry-season!
Hi Angel,
Yes, I also found myself going a bit fast so I appreciate the honest feedback. Boy, how I missed Anuja doing this video solo…no one to talk to :(. I am hoping over time, I will get better at it. Thanks for your continued support!
Awwww, Hetal, I miss you too but I thought you did a really good job 🙂
Yes! Now I can try this at home and not have to wait for holidays to come around to buy chocolate covered strawberries, thank you!
A yummy and easy recipe for summer! White chocolate for me.
I take it Anuja has already departed for pastures new? I’m looking forward to her uploads from India 🙂
Hi Milady,
Soon…give me some time 😉
I will hold you to that Anuja – I love your vibrant style and you and Hetal complement each other perfectly!
Hi Hetal..
Well done…
Missing Anjua… 🙁 Hoping Anjua will post some recipes soon..
