8. Pour the fruit into a bowl and mix in the Whipped Topping.
9. Mix well until all the fruits are well coated.
10. Put a think layer of the fruit/cream topping over the Cake and Pudding.
11. Allow it to chill for 2-3 hours.
12. Serve with a Maraschino Cherry on the top!
Tips:
1. Substitute Fruit Cocktail can for fresh fruits.
2. Substitute Whipped Topping with Heavy Cream, whipped stiff.
3. For super moist cake, dab some fruit juice on the cake before pouring the pudding.
4. To incorporate jelly into the recipe, use any flavor Jello, mix it with needed water and pour over cake before the pudding (In this case, wait until pudding sets and then layer it).

Hi,
I had tried to prepare caramel sauce once. Unfortunately it didn’t turn brown and the sugar started crystallizing. All I did was added around a cup of granulated sugar with little bit of water in a pan on medium heat and was stirring continuously. Is there anything I did wrong? Should I use any particular kind of sugar?
Hi Rose,
We have done it without using water at all. The sugar just starts to melt on its own and turns brown.
Hi,
I’m planning to make this for my daughter’s birthday but need to carry it to the place where we’re having the party. Will the whipped fruit layer melt in the process. What can I do to ensure that it doesn’t.
Please let me know asap, as it’s in 2 days.
Thanks
Hi, I am planning to make this for a party soon. How many days in advance can I make this and how do I store this? Is this served cold or at room temperature?
Hi Divya,
Sorry for the late response… The cake actually tastes better if it is made in advance so it gives it time to soak in all the flavors. A couple of days should be fine. Store it in a covered container in the fridge. You can serve it cold.
Hi Anuja&Hetal
I am big lover of ur program…next week is my son’s bday so i m planning to make this trifle pudding with some variations..i think to add a jelly layer on top of cake…so can i use ready to eat jelly instead of jelly powder..i ve no time to try it n see thats y i thgt to ask to u expertise..
pls reply…
luv
devi
Hi Devi,
Honestly, we do not care for jelly in this cake so have not tried it. I can tell you this…it will be very difficult to spread ready to eat jelly over the cake because you have already covered it with the pudding mixture. If you do it before, the pudding will not absorb.
hmmm yummy! But please let me about the substitued of brandy or rum for fruit ca
ke 🙂
Hi Rumin,
You can always omit brandy or rum from fruit cake recipes.

Hi Hetal and Anuja,
I have a question, but not related to this, can you please help me out:
Can you please tell me a basic, easy recipe of how I could make Caramel Syrup (I need 2 tablespoons only).
Thanks.
Hi Pia,
Basically, caramel sauce is a mixture of sugar, butter and heavy cream. Using a heavy bottom pan, melt 1/4 cup of sugar, let it come to a boil (stirring continuously) and allow it to darken in color. Then, add 1 1/2 Tbsp of butter and keep stirring until its all mixed in well. Remove the pan from the heat and add 2 Tbsp of heavy whipping cream. Mix well until smooth.
Thank You very much Hetal.
Great Entertaining video………Cute kids….I love them
Wow!!!!! I just loved the video. How irresistible it would have been for the kids not to lick the most tempting pudding…. I might still do the same even now :-)). Loved the kids and their efforts!
hmmm. they really are your kids……….. entire chef family, or rather I should say, you two are great teachers for entire world……… 🙂 I loved watching this one…..so cute!!!!!! btw, would have loved to see you two mommies with them too. would have loved to see who were anuja’s and who were hetal’s kids……..

Hi!
Just a question. The custard used for the trifle contains gelatin, which is an animal product I don’t necessarily care for. Any other suggestions for the custard? Also, can whipped whipping cream be uses in lieu of the cool whip?
Thank you.
Hey, lovely dessert and a fantastic presentation by the kids and of course Hetal and Anuja. Keep up the great work ladies…………
Great Kids, great recipes and fun bloopers. I think we need to see some of Hetal and Anuja’s bloopers! 🙂
Hi,
Can also substitute pudding mix with vanilla custard.I tried it and it comes out awesome.
Hi Shruti,
Interesting….we’ve never tried it (vanilla just seems to be a neutral flavor for most people), but we’re sure it would taste really good. If you do try it, please post your feedback. We’re love to hear it!
hi anuja & hetal
can i use chocolate instant puding?
thnks
Hi Farzana,
You can triple everything and it should be good for 45 people.
hi hetal n anuja, i want to make trifle pudding cake for a big party of around 45 guests, cud u pls suggest the quantities of ingredients.
simply delighted to see kids whipping up a delicious dessert. Bravo…keen to see more recipes done by kids. very inspiring to my kids. me and my maid love ‘show me the curry’!
Hi Jane,
Yes, regular pound cake will work just as well for this recipe.
Enjoy!
can you use regular pound cake.. not the frozen kind???
Hi Sadia,
Interesting comment. Most people like this cake because it is not too sweet :).
The only place you could get away with adding additional sugar is the milk. Just dissolve as much sugar as you like into the milk before adding it to the pudding mix. That will make the pudding sweeter and add more sweetness to the whole dessert.
hi anuja and hetal,
very nice recipe and i tried it.
but i hv question.this trifle is not that much sweet.what should i do to make it more sweeter??
plzz reply
thanx
really cute video..
i mixed the fruits in the custard after draining them off their juice..and used jelly as the top layer instead of cream..
(as my guests were the health freak ones)
Next time on..cool whip it is..:)
awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful pudding.Excellent photo.
Hi Bhavika,
The pound cake is not eggless. However, the pudding does not have eggs.
