The best time to make homemade jams is when any particular fruit is in season. Since strawberries are bright red, juicy and sweet about now, let’s make fresh homemade strawberry jam. It is easier than you think and a blessing to know what actually goes into your strawberry jam recipe.
Ingredients:
Ripe Strawberries – 16 oz, washed and hulled
Sugar – 1/2 cup
Fresh Lime Juice – 1 Tbsp
Method:
1. Coarsely food process strawberries for a chunky jam or blend for a smooth texture.
2. Add strawberries, sugar and lime juice into a medium saucepan and mix well.
3. Cook on medium/high heat until mixture comes to a boil. Stir frequently.
4. Reduce heat to medium and continue cooking for 20-25 minutes (until all white bubbles disappear). Stir frequently.
5. Remove from heat allow to cool for a few minutes.
6. While still warm, transfer jam to a clean and dry plastic or glass jar. Allow jam to cool completely before covering and storing in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.
thanku for this wonderful recipe .
will the same recipe work for cranberries as well .
This is a wonderful recipe! I made this last night after a friend brought over a gift of 3 pounds of strawberries the other day. Not wanting the extra strawberries to spoil, I thought this was the best way to use them.
Instead of putting them in the food processor, I cut them into really small pieces with a knife and then cooked them just like you did. I had to add just a little more sugar to get it to taste just right.
Thanks for the feedback Sean!
Hey Anuja & Hetal,
Can I make this with raspberries?! and if so then same recipe?!
Hi Kru,
Yes, the same recipe will work. You may have to adjust the sugar according to how sweet or sour your raspberries are.
Thanks 🙂 How about a Mixed fruit Jam?! I made the raspberry one and it turned out delish… Am thinking to make a mixed fruit jam using Raspberry, blueberry, Strawberry and Orange.. can u plz give me suggestion as to how to go ahead with it?1 Thanks in advance 🙂
Hi Kru,
We have not tried a mixed fruit jam but would imagine the procedure is the same. With regards to the orange, either you can add freshly squeezed orange juice or use orange segments with the tough skin removed.
Hello wonderful ladies,
Thank you for this wonderful recipe….
Question can I use Agave syrup instead of the sugar (or can I leave the sugar out), my hubby is diabetic. I have all these home grown figs and would love to make a jam.
Please kindly respond asap,
Many thanks,
Rani
Pleeeeeeeeeeeease reply.
Thank you!
Ladies…..
Please reply.
Thanks!
Hi Rani,
We have not tried it, but agave syrup should work fine. Try to get a lighter variety (the flavor is more mild like sugar or honey). Leaving the sugar out completely might not work because you want the jam to be slightly sticky (again, we have not tried it so you can try a small batch just to see).
Thanks Hetal for your reply. I will try it. Again many thanks for your reply.
Have a great day. :))
Hi Hetal/Anuja,
Can I use powdered sugar instead of regular sugar and if yes, how much should I use for 16oz of strawberry jam?
Thanks
Hi Pia,
We are sure you can substitute but we do not know the exact amount. Plus do keep in mind that powdered sugar contains cornstarch so your jam might get a little thicker.
Just to bring this to everyone’s notice I made jam out of fresh plumps with the skin on & did it not come out superb, the skin was truly a bonus, there are fruits that are wonderful with the skins on. but beware to WASH them very very well..it is not messy one bit & children like it that way too.
Hi Labonnita,
Thanks for the feedback! Sounds great!
Hi Hetal and Anuja,
I made this strawberry jam yesterday and had it today morning for breakfast. So fresh and taste so good…It was just awesome ! Thanks !
I must praise you for the strawberry jam, I have ample black berry/ strawberry/ & other fruit growing in my garden. Ok the birds & the squirrels have a field day eating them , now I make beautiful jams out of them too & share with my friends & family the fresh spreads.
Thank You.

Why specifically fresh lime juice? Will there be a problem if we use store bought lime juice that is stored in a bottle?
Thanks.
lemon juice is added nly to prevent sugar frm crystalizing..store bought works fine
Hi mommy
Hi mom
u r anuja’s or hetal’s son
Thanks for the wonderful recipe. The jam cam out well and both my husband and daughter liked it. I have the same questions as everybody does. How to make mixed fruit and mango jam? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
Hi Anuja & Hethal,
I tried out your strawberry jam recipie. It is awsome. Is it the same proportion for all berries? Can i make mango jam?
Hi Girls,
Its very exciting. We used to avoid having jams on toasts or anything cause of sugar and preservatives. But now I can make it at home without worrying about the calories.
Can’t wait to make it and feast upon it 🙂
Thanks a lot for the easiest recipe for jams.
Keep up the good work
Just ‘coz it is homemade does not mean it is calorie-free or light on the calories 🙂
You’re right on the preservatives part, though.
Hi Ladies,
I made this over the weekend. I followed your recipe to the T, however my jam is a little tangy and I think it’s because of the fresh lime juice I used. Is it suppose to be tangy and sweet or just sweet?
Pinal

Hi Nasreen,
Yes, Mango is the same way but the sugar amount may vary depending on how sweet or sour the mangoes are.
thnks anuja.
A good reminder when we reach out for the ready jam at the store. Sometimes we tend to forget that the recipe is pretty simple. Thanks so much for promoting healthy devoid of preservatives. Well done..
bad idea to have curtains behind stove…..
That is so true…I am sure it was a mistake but glad someone pointed it out.
Hi Gals,
Thanks for this wonderfull idea…. Y’day me and my son went for strawberry picking and i was wondering what to do with the strawberrys apart from my regular ice creame!!!! thanks for helping out. Always love your reciepes, its always turns out good!! Kudos!!!! 🙂
Hey Ladies, I loved that tip of ‘white bubbles’ disappearing! Bye bye thermometer! 🙂

I am very inspired by this jam making recipe , since it has no chemicals..well done.
Jam looks beautiful and so do you guys! Hetal’s top & bracelet are very pretty. Anjua, that top and the hairstyle suite you very much!
I used to make tomato jam. Boil the whole tomatoes in water until the skin opens up. Remove the skin, blend the pulp and follow the same process. It tastes yummy!
It has been ages since I made any jam. As soon as store bought jams are over in my house, I plan to make one. Thanks for the inspiration.
can u post chicken pickle
Hi Hetal and Anuja,
Thanks for the wonderful recipe!!! Just one question can i use any sugar substitute like honey, agave instead of sugar?
I also have the same question to recude the amount of calories.
We can use this jam as a topping on icecreams!Yummy…….
Hi Anuja and Hetal,
I am your regular viewer. Can I use apple for this jam? So do i need to peeloff the skin for that??
Hi Anuja,
I have also made mango jam and cooked same way but added cinamon stick or cinamon powder. Kids really liked it
Wow, I never heard of mango jam but sounds delicious and adding cinnamon stick would really flavor the jam.
Yjotika, can you provide a recipe please?
Thank you and much appreciated.
Pinal
Hi Hetal & Anuja,
Good recipe. Will try this with blueberries since I don’t have strawberries right now.
Thank you for this recipe.
Jayashree
Hi Hetal and Anuja
This is so nice … very simple … never thought making Jam is sooo easy … just a doubt … that when making Mixed fruit jam … is it necessary to boil the hard fruits (eg. apples, etc…) first … and then put in strawberries or bananas (softer fruits) or is it Ok to cook them all together ??? I mean although we are pulsing it .. still because of the chunks could there be a problem …. may be I am wrong … 🙂
Thanks in advance …
Hi Hetal & Anuja ,
Can I use Frozen Strawberries for this recipe.
Hi Sreeja,
It is best to use fresh but frozen strawberries can also be used – defrost them fully and you will need to pulse them fewer times that fresh. Infact, you may get away with using just a potato masher. Follow the same steps.
Thanks guys! I always thought it to be a tedious process, but this recipe is so easy, so no more storebought bottles,I plan to go Strawberry and Blueberry picking this summer.Do we need to pulse blueberries the same way or can we keep them whole.
Your website is really a blessing for all ur viewers,Keep posting more yummy recipes everyweek!
Love u guys!
Hi Shalu,
If you are making a mixed fruit jam, then go ahead and pulse the blueberries – but if you are making Blueberry Jam by itself, it will cook down by itself – you can use a potato masher or the back end of your spoon…
So does this mean I would follow the same recipe of strawberry jam for making peach jam?
Yes, Pinal, pretty much the same. The only thing with peaches is the skin – depending on the crop, you may or may not want to take off the skin (peel it).
How much sugar should be going in for a pound of bluberries!!!
Plz Reply!
Hi H&A,
You guys are doing a great job. But am also longing for some basic south indian recipes like Vadas and Masala Dosa. When are you thinking of preparing those?
Hopefully soon, Divya 🙂
can you use fresh lemon juice
Yes,Sara, Lemon Juice works just as well 🙂
thank you for the quick reply
can we use concentrated lemon juice?
