Nasi Goreng – Indonesian Fried Rice Recipe

Nasi Goreng is just an exotic name for Fried Rice…so we hear! But it is amazing how the flavor is different for other Fried Rice. We love the fact that it can easily be made vegetarian or non-vegetarian. Traditionally, they do add Shrimp Paste to the dish but at my request Chef Sudabo showed me how it can so easily be transformed into a vegetarian dish. Thanks again Chef for allowing us into your kitchen!

  3. Awesome recipe..

I tried it today and it came out good … except that I used basmati freshly cooked as I didn’t have left over rice, it was a bit softer than the recipe called for still tasted great.

However the can you please also post the methods on how to boil rice for such kind of dishes .. I don’t think we can use 100% pre cooked rice for this dish ..

    Great work ..

      1. Oh wow! Fantastic job. You should do a video on how to do this 😊. Can you tell us which knife you used to do the job. Of course, I think it’s more of a skill but using the right tools might help a novice like me. Thanks.

  4. hi Anuja,

awesome presentation. are all the vegetables hand cut or have u used any chopper. those are been cut very nicely.
can you pls tell me where did you get that kadai/wok, do you have that kind online in your kitchen store.. i am finding it very hard to find this kind of kadhai. would appreciate your response.. always in love and big time follower of your recipes.

    1. Hi Rati,

Thanks! Yes, all the vegetables were hand-cut – with a lot of love 🙂

The pan is a brand called “Green Pan”….it is from the USA and is not a non-stick and that is why I like it.

Hope that helps and Happy Cooking!

    1. Hi Sherry,

In this video I have used long grain rice but on a couple of unplanned occasions, I have made it with basmati rice.

Honestly, no one in my family other than I, could tell the difference.
