A nice hot bowl of Sweet Corn Soup is creamy goodness without the cream. Try this Indian Chinese recipe on a cold winter day…it’ll warm you through and through.
Ingredients:
Oil – 1 Tbsp
Garlic – 1 tsp (finely minced)
Ginger – 1 tsp (grated)
Onion – 1 small (finely chopped)
Frozen Peas & Carrots – 1/2 cup
Green Beans – 1/4 cup (cut diagonally)
Cauliflower – 1/2 cp (chopped finely)
Celery – 1/4 cup (chopped finely)
Cream Style Corn – 1 can
Salt – to taste
Black Pepper – to taste
Water – 1/2 cup
Vegetable Broth – 14oz can
Corn Starch – 2 tsp (mixed with a little water)
Sugar – 1 tsp (optional)
Green Onions – 2 (chopped diagonally, for garnishing)
Method:
1. In a medium pot, add Oil, Ginger and Garlic. Allow it to sizzle.
2. Add Onions and saute for 30 seconds.
3. Add Peas & Carrots, Green Beans, Celery and Cauliflower. Saute for 1-2 minutes.
4. Add can of Cream Stlye Corn, Salt and Pepper. Mix well.
5. Add Water and Vegetable Stock. Mix and Bring to a boil.
6. Allow veggies to cook without overcooking them.
7. Mix a little water with the Corn Starch and add it to the soup.
8. Add sugar and adjust salt if necessary.
9. Garnish with Spring (Green) Onions and serve Hot!
10. Serves 4
Tips:
1. Chop some Green Chilies and marinate them in Vinegar. Use this and Soy Sauce as a garnish.
2. Add more or less Corn Starch to thicken soup to your taste.
The soup was too good, and I added the veggies on hand instead of greenbeansetc, I added asparagus , mushrroms.
Also a teaspoon of vinegar enhances the taste very much.
hi i really like manchow soup seved in restaurants. can you give a restaurant style recipe please.
Can i use maggi vegetable stock which comes as tablets..? are they healthy to use?
Hi Amy,
Yes you could use those but read the ingredients. If they contain MSG, they are not that healthy.
Hello Hetal and Abuja, Do you guys know of any vegetable broth that has no MSG? Apparently Swanson Broth does.
Hi Chethana,
Usually, organic broths do not have MSG. I know Kroger sells its own Kroger brand vegetable broth (in a can) that also says “no MSG”.
This video not working can u fix plz?
Hi Pink,
The video is working fine on our side. Please refresh your browser and see if that works.
Hi heal and Abuja this is pinki from Ohio

Made this for Thanksgiving – yum! Muchas gracias, Senoras 🙂
do v have boil d sweet corn if its in raw form…as m from india, mumbai….v get everything fresh…n i use our normal water instead of vegetable stock is dat ok….
Hi Ashwini,
Yes, you would have to crush and cook the corn for a little longer if you use fresh. Water will work, but the broth will give an extra flavor boost.
Hi Hetal and Anuja,
I love your website. Whenever I want to make something special for my family, I open your website. My husband loves mutter paneer and he always asks did you learn any new recepie.
Today, I was just checking if I can get a nice recepie for creamy tomato soup but ….. 🙁
I would love to know about that if you can show us that recepie.
Thanks
Absolutely the best sweet corn soup recipe. Thanks Abuja and Hetal.
what type of venegar was that??
Hi Hetal/Anuja,
Can we add- seasoned salt instead of regular salt(gives the chinese flavor).
Also how do i put in an egg white into the soup (at what stage)
Thanks..You girls rock!!!
sr
I like your website and the way you present food. But this soup does NOT require onion, ginger, garlic nor the frying part. Just put the cream style corn, veggies, stock and the rest to boil and egg can be added at the last.
Hi,
‘cream style corn’ can comes in two sizes 14.75 oz and 8.5 oz. Which size is required?
Thanks
Hi Pooja,
Its the regular size can (14oz).

Hey Hetal Anjuna..If you don’t mind can I add you on yahoo or gmail. ?Thank you Great Work.Keep going
Hi Anuja and Hetal,
Must begin by saying you guys are doing a fantastic job, the videos are so simple and easy to follow.
Just wanted to check, am unable to find Creamy Style Corn and really want to try this recepie. However, we do get a regular can of Corn, is there a way I can substitute this instead of Creamy style corn?
Thank you very much.
Hi Megha,
Cream style corn is ground up a bit where you cannot see whole kernels. You may be able to put the whole corn in a food processor and give it a whirl. It may also have a little added sugar.
thanks hetal, will try this today? do u recommend adding a little cream to the corn after grinding it in a mixer.
and once agaoin, love your recepies and the way of presenting them.
Just happened to have a can of Cream Style Corn in my pantry. The ingredients say: Corn, Water, Sugar, Corn Starch and Salt…no cream.
Thank you so much.. will definitely try this soon.
Prepared this soup yesterday.tasted very good..Thanks for the recipe.
what is the right time to put in stock cubes in soup….
Hi Hetal & Anuja,

Hi Sejal,
Thanks for your kind words and we are so happy for you. The Pav Bhaji is a fabulous recipe and we are glad you impresses your mom.
Regarding the Vegetable broth, it is available at regular grocery stores. The vegetable Stock cubes work out just as well, you add 1 cube in 1 cup(8 fluid oz) of boiling water. This recipe calls for 2 cups of liquid (1.5 cup of stock + 1/2 cup of water) so you can use 2 cubes, put them in 2 cups of boiling water and add them in at the right time.
It is possible to make vegetable broth at home, we will have a recipe out very soon.
Enjoy!
Hi Hetal and Anuja,
Just wondering what if I can’t find vegetable broth. Can I use vegetable stock cubes? If so how many cubes to water do I need?
