Can i use small curd cottage cheese for this?
Tried this recipe today, it turned out to be awesome. Thanks a lot. Will try out the recipes one by one.
Wonderful Reciepe…I never had paneer bhurji before…and after trying this i am in love with it…its really tastyy and wonderful…I was wondering if you can post the reciepe for Khoya Kaju?
Hello ladies,
Looks yummy..
I don’t have a food
Hi,
I don’t have a food processor.
Could I grate the paneer ?
Hi Bhavika,
Yes, you can grate the paneer…it will work fine.
recipe turned out great. my hubby praises me like am a super woman now that i make home made paneer, obviously looking at ur recipes. thanks guys. u r simply awesome. Just one quick question, i always use the teflon coating kadai / pans. are you using the hard anodised pan in ur video. i see these hard anodised pans in the shop but i am afraid to buy them cause i am not sure. but the pan looked so smooth and good for cooking. do let me know. kudos to you two once again.
Hi Pris,
We have both teflon style non-stick pans as well as hard anodized ones. They both work great for different things. Hard anodized also come in two varieties (outside coating and inside coating). Some hard anodized are such on the outside but still have a telfon coating on the inside. If you can find the ones that are hard anodized on the inside, they are great!
Hi Hetal & Anuja, I really liked this recipie. It turned out yummy & delecious. Thanks for running this website.
Hi Rikeeta,
Thank you for your sweet comment and your support 🙂
hi
when i cooked in nonstick pan paneer(home made), paneer melted .can u tell me the reason?
u too used nonstick pan only.
Hi Khushi,
No idea why your paneer melted – Paneer is not the melting type of cheese. We do use non-stick and it never melts 🙁
How can I vote for you Hetal and Anuja ? Where do I go ?
Rishiel
Hi Rishi,
The voting is over – quite a while back 🙁
Thanks for your support 🙂
hey ladies,
i tried to make it but i did not have ready paneer so i made it fresh but after going in the pan it started to melt and the outcome of the dish was very gooey.. what did i do wrong?
I bet it would have worked better if you had let the paneer sit in the fridge for a few hours so that it would have been firmer. You could always put it in the freezer for 10 minutes or so and get the same results.
Hi Mandi,
Sounds like a great idea! Thanks for sharing.
It is not necessary to grate paneer. As it gets warmer and you keep turning and pressing the paneer with spatula, it gives a feel of bhurji.
Try using peas or green pepper, red pepper you will simply love the colors and taste.
Enjoy.

Hi R,
Just did. Of course it was not Robert Smith writing the message…just someone using his name. 🙁
I tried this last night, but I didn’t have any paneer, so I decided that I would try the block of firm, light, tofu that I had in the fridge. I cut it up into tiny cubes and prepared the recipe otherwise as given. It was delicious! The tofu, while not as nice as paneer, absorbed the flavor of the masalas and held up well. No proper Indian breads at home either, so rolled it up in tortillas. Worked great! I think that next time, I will add a pinch of sugar while cooking the onions to help them to just start to caramelize. I think the combo of slightly sweet and spicy would make for wonderful roll ups 🙂
Thanks for the feedback Robert. We’re sure it will help other viewers!
hi hetal/anuja
i love paneer also but i was wondering instead of crumbling the paneer can i just make it into little cubes and make it that way
Hi Zara,
You could but if you crumble or grate it, the masala will mix in better. Also, it is really hard to cut paneer into small cubes.
hi hetal/anuja,
can i make paneer from cream?
i couldnt find a small bottle of whole milk, so i bought cream instead. I wanted to ask you before actually trying to make it..
thanks
Hi
Hetal and Anuja
I like all of ur reccipes U make cooking easy for new learners
Thank you for this reciepe it is one of my favorite one.
Hi Hetal and Anuja
I’ve always wanted to ask you this. How do you mince garlic and ginger? Do you use store bought ones? Please let me know. thanks so much.
Hi Narmada,
We use a small wet spice grinder. You can also use a coffee grinder if the base comes out and you can wash it.
thanks hetal n anuja for excellent recipe…. my hubby will love it. u people r really great help for me..
The Pan looks gorgeous!!!

Thank you for this wonderful recipe…just had a question in video you used 14oz paneer packet but in the recipe below half the amt is written. How much should we use???
Hi Neelu,
Oops! Sorry! Thanks for catching the error. The recipe should say “14oz” not “7oz”. It has been fixed now.
can you use toffu?
can you gals pl post the receipe for soft yet delicious roomali rotis, will be greatful.
take care both
can we use toffu?
Hi Jagruti,
Yes, tofu is a great alternative. The taste and texture will be somewhat different but it will work.
Good Recipe. What I like about you girls is, there is no fluff, just basic teaching techniques. I don’t see any showing off, no “cheffy” stuff, yet clean, presentable, delicious food. I wish you the best.
But if I am correct, you do have a cold Hetal!!!
Thanks Angel! Not a cold, but allergies really hit hard. 🙁
Hi Hetal and Anuja,
I would like to buy one good mini foodprocessor. could you guys suggest which brand food processor is good for our indian food preparations.
I found a nice little 4 bowl Cusiniart mini food processor at Costco for around $25. If you are not a Costco member you could probably find some decent ones at a decent price at Wal-mart, Target, or K-Mart. Just check in the small appliances section.
Hi Anuja and Hetal,
Thanks for a wonderful dish. I eat eggs, but am trying to get away from them and tofu cooked like this tends to be a bit mushy. This will be great and I love paneer!!!! Keep up the good work.
I love paneer, but also make a burji with firm Tofu and it tastes great. Just substitute the paneer in this recipe with firm Tofu. Tofu is very bland, so the flavors and masalas mix in well with it!
Love the Kathi rolls idea. Will keep that in mind for when my son is a lil older(so I can somehow get Indian food into him…LOL)
Try adding some chopped bell peppers and peas to the bhurjee. It turns out amazing. I use it to make paneer rolls once week for my kids’ b’fast. I make the bhurji the night before. In the morning, I just make real thin chapaties and use the paneer bhurji to make rolls, wrap in wax paper and heat in micriwave for about 10 seconds. Serve it with a glass of orange jiuce – healthy and tatsy b’fast is ready:)
Awesome Arpana! Thanks for sharing.
Hi Hetal/Anuja
I requested this recipe yesterday. And here it is today morning. Will try it soon. Thanks guys
Hi Hetal/Anuja,
I have tried a lot of Paneer Bhurji recipes but never got it quite right. I am sure this one will turn out to be a delicacy, just like all the other recipes I have tried from your website. Keep up the good work. You guys rock.
Thanks for the support Usha!
Where did you buy the pan ? It looks attractive
Hi Hetal & Anuja,
The Paneer Burji is Yummy!!!!.As You’ll said you can add spinach to it,it really comes out well.I have tried it.
I try a lot of your recipes and they come out very well.
I have a Question?
Can You kindly tell me where can I get the pastry sheets…
Wal-mart ,whole Foods or trader joes?.
Thankyou
Ami.
why is ur name clickable??
u work for SMTC?
Hi Ami,
The pastry sheets are available at most grocery (Kroger, Walmart, etc) stores. The brand is Pepperidge Farm and they can be found in the frozen foods section next to other desserts.
Hi Hetal / anuja
I love this recipe .Thanks a lot for posting this and many other good recipes . your recipes are easy to make and taste good.
Thanks
Riddhi
I LOVE the idea of rolling this up in tortillas! I think that I’ll make a batch this weekend – that’s lunch sorted for much of next week 🙂
The pan looks more attractive than the dish.
True. pan is really attractive also it is new and being used for the first time for this yummy paneer recipe.
Hello
Can you please post Paneer Tikka Masala ?
I marinated using their Paneer Tikka recipe with kabobs and for the left over I did vahrevah chef’s Paneer Tikka Masala. Both turned out too good.
That’s great! Glad you enjoyed it 🙂
What can we use else if we dont have paneer?
u can use mushroom
preity
i was thinking of requesting this receipe this morning…so happy to see it. thanks.
In picture it looks too lumpy in restaurant texture is little bit smooth side , correct me if i am wrong .
We like the texture but if you don’t care for it, you can grate the paneer.
I think grating the paneer would work best for this recipe…any suggestions?
