Mung Daal Khichadi is an all-time favorite comfort food for when you’re feeling under the weather or for those “after holiday over-indulgence” times. Made with easy to digest mung daal, rice and veggies, khichadi is also a perfect balanced meal for babies and kids. Try some with Gujarati Kadhi…it’s a perfect match!

Anitha,
Thanks for your feedback. We will look into doing some soya/tofu recipes.
hi ,
all ur recipes r really good ,would u please send in some recipes with soya chunk which is really healthy
hey hetal, i make this khicadi very often for my kid, and yes hing is always a main ingredient when i cook any kind of daal as it helps for digestion but also gives the daal a nice aroma. I wud just love to suggest u that when u add all the ingrdients, add little ginger finely cut, 1 clove of garlic chopped , little crushed jeera ,not powder . and 2 pinch of black pepper .. i add zuchini , aparagus in my khicadi as they r diificult to get into ur kids.and this makes a real wonderful meal especially when u r down with fever or cold, its better than plain khichadi. serve with one teaspoon of ghee , along with some semi solid sabji made of potato and onions and tomatoes. let me know what u feel abt this thank u .. i like all ur recipes . Good job
Hi Salma,
Yes, there are many different ways to make this dish…will definitely have to try your recipe! As for the asofoetida, as a general rule, we use it in recipes which have daal. It is believed that asofoetida (hing) reduces gas…especially important for little babies.
Hi,
I like your show. Keep up the good work.
I just want to comment that we -bengalis, cook similar khichuri yet we add some oil, sliced onions and few green chilli but no Asofoetida!
Its our winter time favorite food with egg omelet or meat curry.
Thanks
